EXPLORE NEW SAILING GROUNDS

Many sailors dream of sailing further afield but, because of time, distance and crew concerns, often sail within more limited horizons. One way to overcome this is to arrange for your yacht to be pre-positioned, for example to the Brittany Coast, or the West Country, or the West Coast of Scotland, to meet the private owner's wishes for a holiday season of sailing in new waters.

Another prospect is vessel relocation, for example to the Mediterranean or Caribbean.

ARRANGEMENTS

Arrangements are made on an entirely bespoke basis, taking into account travel to and from start and finish locations, and the duration available for the passage, for example, whether the schedule envisages a non-stop 'as fast as is safe' passage, or allows for more leisurely progress.

Alastair is happy to accompany an owner / skipper and his / her crew, providing support, advice, encouragement and general experience, as well as instruction as required. Alternatively, he can arrange a crew from amongst trusted friends and colleagues so any owner can be sure that they share Alastair's professional and exacting standards. He can also advise on adequacy of safety equipment provision for the passage envisaged.

In the case of a full yacht delivery service, the boat would be left thoroughly cleaned, fuelled and watered, along with a service report of any issues encountered or defects discovered. Country relocation, especially post Brexit, has the potential to be complex, and costly in regards to potential VAT charges. This is something that Alastair is happy to advise on or arrange via one of the specialist organisations which offer such a service.

An overall cost for the delivery service as well as any apportionment of costs (fuel, gas) will be agreed before the delivery is carried out, taking into account all specifics. The bespoke nature of the agreement reached can lead to a very cost effective outcome for the owner. A delivery trip with a less taxing schedule may take longer but can make it easier to recruit crew who can gain more from the sailing experience itself.

The owner will be required to confirm that their insurance provides adequate cover for the delivery trip.
